Following the welcome breakfast and orientation with your John Hall’s Alaska Specialist, you’re off on a flightseeing tour leaving from Anchorage and landing in the middle of Katmai National Park. Katmai is famous for Brooks Falls which plays host to over 70 brown bears during the months of June and July. Enjoy lunch at the Brooks Fall Lodge before returning by place to Anchorage for the evening. B L D

DAY 3- CORDOVA
After a city tour of Anchorage, board the Alaska Railroad for an expidition leading you south along Turnagain Arm to the city of Whittier, Alaska. Here you will join Stan Stephens Glacier Cruises for a scenic trip across Prince William Sound. Harbor seals, sea lions, sea otters, whales and birds will highlight your cruise. Early this evening you will arrive at the fishing village of Cordova, your home for the next two evenings. B L D

DAY 4- CORDOVA/ CHILDS GLACIER & THE MILLION DOLLAR BRIDGE

After a well rested evening you are off on another full day’s adventure. Today’s program takes you into the heart of the Chugach National Forest as you travel the very scenic and wildlife rich Copper River Highway. After crossing the Copper River Delta you arrive at the historic Million Dollar Bridge and the pristine blues of Childs Glacier. Lunch will be served while visiting the glacier and you will hang on every bite as you wait patiently for the ice to break loose and calve into the Copper River below. B L D

DAY 5- WRANGELL-ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK & COPPER RIVER VALLEY
You awake this morning to bid farewell to a city and its residents who over the last two days showed you exactly what it means to visit the “real Alaska.” You will board your vessel and set sail for Valdez, the “Little Switzerland” of Alaska. Before calling port, you will visit the ice filled waters of Columbia Bay, home to Columbia Glacier, the fastest moving glacier in Alaska. Ice conditions providing, you will draw to within a half mile of the face and watch in awe as the glacier calves into the chilly waters below. Keep your camera ready for dramatic shots of crystal blue icebergs which tower over our vessel as you weave our way out of the bay. On land again, Your journey will lead through breathtaking Keystone Canyon with waterfalls rushing along the roadside. After exiting the canyon, you will climb to over 2400 feet in elevation as you cross Thompson Pass. This afternoon, visit the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park headquarters before settling into your relaxing accommodatuons at the Copper River Princess Lodge. B L D

DAY 6- WRANGELL-ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK
After a miner’s style breakfast, board small planes for a flight seeing trip over the Wrangell Mountains and into the old mining cities of Kennicott & McCarthy. You will spend the next two evenings at lovely Ma Johnson’s Hotel, where the decorations are perfectly placed and the cuisine rivals five stars. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour of this historic mining district and a visit to the McCarthy Museum. B L D

DAY 7- KENNICOTT/ MCCARTHY & THE KENNECOTT COPPER MINES
This morning you are off on an exploration of the amazing Kennecott mines. This National Historical Landmark operated from April of 1911 until November of 1938, during which time the mining project extracted over $200 million worth of high grade copper and another $4 million in silver. Your expedition will lead you to the top of the 13 level mill and back down again. Good physical condition and stair climbing abilities are required to make this portion of your tour. This afternoon you may catch up on a little R&R or continue your adventure by taking a guided hike to Kennicott Glacier. B L D

DAY 8- FAIRBANKS
Enjoy breakfast before you once again board your plane for a 30 minute flight to Copper Center. After each of the guests has safely returned to the airstrip, you will board your motorcoach and head north on the Richardson, Alaska’s first highway bound for Fairbanks. Your route this afternoon will follow beautiful rivers and reflecting lakes, as well as the great Trans-Alaska Pipeline. This is a section of the pipeline that less than 5% of visitors to Alaska have a chance to experience. In Delta Junction you meet the Alaska Highway and continue your journey into the golden city of Fairbanks. The Alpine Lodge will be your home for the next three evenings. B L D

DAY 9- GATES OF THE ARCTIC NATIONAL PARK & BARROW
After a restful evening, you embark on a journey few before you have had the opportunity to enjoy. You will board a private plane and depart Fairbank’s airport bound for the northernmost Inupiat Eskimo village of Barrow. Crossing the Arctic Circle, you will have the incredible chance to meet and learn about the culture of this arctic coastal settlement while touring the village and shorelines of the Arctic Ocean. Here you have a chance to dip your toe in the Arctic Ocean. Late this afternoon you will return by air to Fairbanks and the cozy accommodations of the Alpine Lodge. B L D

DAY 10- FAIRBANKS
You have spent the past 8 days exploring what we like to call the “Real Alaska”, traveling crushed rock roadways, visiting native villages, and talking first hand with those who call this vast country home. Today however, things speed up a bit as you are off on a full day’s adventure visiting the sights and sounds that make Fairbanks truly the “Golden City”. You will start with a three hour cruise down the Chena and Tanana Rivers aboard the legendary Riverboat Discovery. This afternoon, dine in the comfort and graces of Trail Breaker Kennels, home to the family of the late dog mushing champion, Susan Butcher. Later today visit the Museum of the North located on the campus of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Tonight you dine at the great Alaska Salmon Bake where dinner includes salmon, halibut, cod, prime rib, salad bar and of course, dessert. B L D

DAY 11- DENALI NATIONAL PARK/ WONDER LAKE & KANTISHNA
Your day will start with a deluxe ride on the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park. The extravagant service of the Alaska Railway offers large picture windows for striking views of the passing mountains. Your ride also includes a generous breakfast in the dining car directly below you. Upon arrival in Denali you’ll realize your journey for the day has only just begun. You will board a private bus bound for Kantishna and the Backcountry Lodge, your home for the next two nights. During the 95 mile journey into the heart of Denali, you will have the opportunity to view Alaska’s “Big Four”; Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep and Grizzly Bears that call this 6 million acre park home. Just before arriving into Kantishna you will pass the spectacular waters of Wonder Lake. B L D

DAY 12- DENALI NATIONAL PARK/ WONDER LAKE & KANTISHNA
You awake this morning to the sounds of nature, no traffic, trains, sirens, or busy people preparing for a day in the office. In a perfect world everyone would enjoy Denali like this, but you are one of the lucky few to have this experience. Today is meant for relaxing, going one on one with Denali and maybe even capture that postcard photo of Mt. McKinley. Hiking, mountain biking, gold panning or flight seeing tours are available for those looking for a little extra adventure. You’re in bear country and it’s always wise to walk with caution and whistle a tune wherever you go. B L D

DAY 13- DENALI’S SOUTH FACE
Another opportunity to photograph the “Big Four” awaits as you make your return trip on the 95 mile road back to the park entrance. After lunch you will head south on the George Parks Highway. Along the way you will visit the remarkable Veteran’s Memorial and stop at view points if the “Great One” presents itself for photo opportunities. Your accommodations tonight offer an Alaskan feel with a view of the Alaska Range and Mt. McKinley. Relax and enjoy the marvelous views! B L D

Fly Home From Anchorage the next day (Land Onlys) or 9:00pm Sailing:  AK108- Jul 20
DAY 14- THE KENAI PENINSULA/KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK & SEWARD
13 days have passed since you came together with your fellow travelers for a welcome breakfast. With new found friendships in place, today’s breakfast holds a far different meaning. A few of your traveling companions will say “good bye” and fly home tonight or early tomorrow while the remaining explorers accompany you to Celebrity’s Millennium for a seven day cruise through Alaska’s Inside Passage. Your John Hall’s Cruise Manager will meet you in Seward and help assure that the next week goes as smoothly as the first two. (Overnight accommodations included with land only price.) B L

DAY 15- HUBBARD GLACIER in port 2pm-6pm
Today’s voyage takes you into Yakutat Bay and alongside the Tongass National Forest where you will soon reach Disenchantment Bay and the impressive ice wall of Hubbard Glacier. The largest and second most active tidewater glacier in Alaska has a face that extends to over 6.5 miles in length. Stand in awe as at any moment a thunderous crash of glacier ice may come crashing down into the ice choked waters below.

DAY 16- JUNEAU in port 9am-9pm
As the sun rises on the horizon, your vessel will maneuver into the Gastineau Channel. It is here you will dock in Alaska’s capital city. As you prepare for a day of sightseeing you will notice float planes lining up to take flightseers and sportsmen to an array of outposts in the surrounding mountains. You will have many options in the capital city today. You may tour the Mendenhall Glacier, the Glacier Gardens, enjoy a city tour with a visit to the salmon hatchery, or a scenic trip to the top of Mt. Roberts on the aerial tram. For the adventure seekers, try a flight to the glaciers and a real dog sled experience across snow packed surfaces or a glacier trek where you will walk on the glaciers of Alaska.

DAY 17- SKAGWAY in port 7am-8:30pm
Welcome to the “Gateway City to the Klondike Gold Rush!” This historic community still has the feel of an 1898 boom town. The voices coming from the saloons and the sound of boots on the boardwalk still echo in the air, while the legend of outlaw “Soapy Smith” lives on in every story. You have the option to take the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad on an incredible climb, 2500 feet to the top of the renowned “Dead Horse Trail.”
DAY 18- ICY STRAIT POINT in port 7am-4pm
Down the road from Alaska’s largest Tlingit village exists a uniquely Alaskan place- Icy Strait Point. Just 22 miles southeast of Glacier Bay National Park, it’s the only wilderness port in Alaska. This has been the home land of the Huna Tlingit Natives for thousands of years. Its beauty, grandeur, history and people offer you a glimpse into the real Alaska.

DAY 19- KETCHIKAN in port 9am-6pm
Known as the “Salmon Capital” of Alaska and the first city for those traveling from the south, this brilliant seaside community offers a number of adventures for its visitors. Flight seeing to beautiful Misty Fjords is a popular event for many. Others may elect to keep their feet on the ground and visit the totem displays of Saxman Village & Totem Bight Park. If you are exploring on your own, the historic Creek Street District is a must, and the Southeast Discovery Lands Center is well worth the cost of admission.

DAY 20- INSIDE PASSAGE CRUISING
Tidal waters permitting, you will hug the coastlines of Alaska and stunning British Columbia. The scenery offered by the Inside Passage is far different from that found in other cruise destinations around the globe. Keep an eye open for Humpbacks, Orcas, and Dolphins during your day at sea.

Fly Home: AK108- Jul 27
DAY 21- VANCOUVER in port 7am
As dawn breaks on the harbor, your vessel will sail under the Lions Gate Bridge and dock at the Canada Place Pier. This marks a time for good-byes and well wishes to all of those new friendships that have developed during your dream Alaska vacation. After the disembarkation process is completed and you pass through Canadian customs, you will be transferred to the Vancouver or Seattle (optional) airports where you will board flights bound for home.
