• Visit world famous KATMAI NATIONAL PARK, land of 10,000 smokes and home of the famous Alaska Brown Bear viewing at Brooks Falls. Visitors will stand on platforms only a dozen feet above these 1,200 pound bears as they catch and feed on salmon.

• Consider LAKE CLARK NATIONAL PARK in July, August and September, combing the shores of pristine Crescent Lake on the lookout for brown bears. Enjoy Alaska with no more than 13 people around for miles!

Half day and full day bear viewing packages are available. Guest may also combine bear viewing with salmon and trout fishing packages and/or overnight remote lodge stays.

• RIVER FISHING - Try your luck at catching a 70-pound King Salmon or a 30-inch Rainbow Trout in the blue waters and tributaries of the Upper, Middle and Lower Kenai River, rated one of the best fisheries in North America! Sport fishing the salmon runs along the Russian and Kasilof Rivers is also a popular option. Float Trips available for guests not wanting to fish.

• HALIBUT & SALMON DEEP SEA FISHING - Fish for all 5 species of Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod and Rockfish in several locations easily accessible from Anchorage! Half and full day trips are available. Deep sea fishing in Seward, Alaska comes with the added bonus of fishing in humpback whale territory!

• FLY OUT FISHING PACKAGES - Consider an overnight at a remote lodge for amazing river fishing and animal viewing. Or feel right at home with a flight out to Chenega Bay for deep sea fishing. After you are settled into your private ocean front property, you can fish for all 5 species of salmon and about 30 species of rock fish. Other lodges are available.

Float planes are a major means of transportation in Alaska today and while visiting Anchorage you will find no better example of this than Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world. Flightseeing trips from Anchorage will give you the opportunity to view vast mountain peaks and provide aerial glacial panoramas. These excursions

operate anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. Choose from these highlights: Mt. McKinley and Denali National Park; Columbia Glacier; Prince William Sound; Redoubt Mountain & Lake Clark Preserve.

WHITEWATER RAFTING & SCENIC FLOAT TRIPS

Feel the rush just a short trip from Anchorage on the famous six-mile route that typically sees class 4 and 5 rapids! Be fitted in a wet suit which will shield you from Alaska’s icy waters as you raft down fantastic white water rivers in Southeast Alaska. Pristine canyon scenery and wildlife sightings will astound you. Some age restrictions apply. Location dependent upon water levels.

Alaska’s marine wildlife can be accessed all summer long! Have your camera ready to capture harbor seals, spotted seals, sea otters, puffins, eagles, humpback whales, orca whales and porpoises.

Combine your wildlife viewing with a remarkable tidewater glacier experience from either Whittier or Seward, Alaska. Spend anywhere from 4.5 hours to 8 hours on the water.

Explore the native cultures who survive the frozen tundra of the north when you travel across the famed Arctic Circle and visit either Barrow, Kaktovik for polar bears, or Nome! Learn the grit it takes to make it through a long, harsh Alaskan winter! Dip your toes into the Arctic Ocean or be brave and take the polar bear plunge!

When the sun finally sets and nighttime falls in Alaska, the awesome Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) can be viewed in the skies above Alaska.  Because of the need for total darkness, Northern lights are best viewed in the fall and winter months, away from city lights.

Viewing northern lights above the Arctic Circle can be done in one day or as part of multi-day packages. In in winter you can view northern light in Talkeetna, Denali and Fairbanks as well.

Victoria island, BC  highlights

Get to know the charming city of Victoria, British Columbia! Journey by float plane or ferry from Vancouver to Victoria Island, and visit the world-renowned stunning flowers of Butchart Gardens. Afterwards, enjoy the famous tea time served at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.  Make a stop at the historic parliament buildings or take a horse drawn carriage ride through downtown Victoria. Return to Vancouver for more sightseeing or for your flight home.

This is an easy add-on for those docking in Vancouver at the end of their Inside Passage cruise.
