Itinerary

Day 1ANCHORAGE

Welcome to the metropolitan city of Anchorage, Alaska! A John Hall’s Alaska representative greets you on arrival and escorts you to your luxury accommodations for the evening. Anchorage has much to offer if you wish to explore. Dinner is at your leisure.

Dinner | Overnight: The Hotel Captain Cook

Day 2ANCHORAGE AND PALMER

After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Anchorage with time at the Anchorage Museum. Journey north to Palmer this afternoon and into the Knik River Valley, arriving at your beautiful private cabins at Alaska Glacier Lodge. The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure with dinner at the lodge.

Day 3PALMER

Enjoy a relaxing morning before heading to the Alaska State Fair. Following lunch, return to the lodge with time to add on an optional activity such as helicopter flightseeing, hiking or time at your leisure. This evening includes a private dinner presentation on the lifestyle of The Iditarod and what makes a successful Iditarod experience.

Day 4DENALI NATIONAL PARK

Travel from Palmer to Talkeetna following breakfast where guests will join the Mahay family for a thrilling (enclosed) jetboat tour of Devil’s Canyon. This afternoon, guests travel via motorcoach to Denali National Park before arriving at the Denali Bluffs, your home for two evenings.

Day 5DENALI NATIONAL PARK

Wake up to nature this morning! Board a sightseeing bus which will take you 42 miles deep into Denali National Park. Return to the gates of the park this afternoon for the remainder of your day at your leisure.

Day 6DENALI ADVENTURE DAY & FAIRBANKS

Begin your day with your choice of included activity, furthering your exploration of Denali National Park. Choose to join an ATV trek, go ziplining through the forest or join a whitewater river rafting adventure. After lunch, board the Alaska Railroad GoldStar cars and travel in comfort from Denali to Fairbanks, Alaska’s Golden Heart City. Enjoy dinner while onboard.

Day 7FAIRBANKS & TOK

Following breakfast, we visit Trail Breaker Kennel, home of the late Susan Butcher – four time winner of the Iditarod. Next, stop at the North Pole and Santa’s House to mail those Christmas wish lists. Your journey on the Alaska Highway begins this afternoon! Keep your camera ready as the scenery will be grand. Arrive in Tok this afternoon and settle into your hotel for one evening.

Day 8KLUANE NATIONAL PARK AND WHITEHORSE

Visit the stunning Kluane National Park and tour the Da Ku Cultural Center. Your day will be filled with mountains, lakes and plentiful wildlife along the way! Arrive in Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon.

Day 9WATSON LAKE

Begin the day with a stop at the Yukon Transportation Museum to view the preserved stories and artifacts illustrating the rugged Yukon history. Witness Teslin Lake before arriving in Watson Lake this evening.

Day 10MUNCHO LAKE

Spend your morning enjoying the dramatic views of the river and cliffs that surround you. Before getting underway, stop at Sign Post Forest. Bring a sign from your hometown to add to the collection of eighty thousand who have found a home here. Arrive at scenic Muncho Lake, one of North America’s most prolific wildlife viewing areas. Relax on the banks of Muncho Lake, with the late afternoon free for exploring this beautiful area.

Day 11FORT NELSON

Pass through amazing Stone Mountain Provincial Park, home of the beautiful Stone Sheep. With any luck we will witness these impressive animals licking salt along the highway and up the roadside cliffs. Visit the Fort Nelson Heritage Museum and view the incredible displays before arriving at your hotel for the evening.

Day 12DAWSON CREEK

Before entering Alberta, make a stop in Dawson Creek, home to the “Mile 0” and the completion of your journey on the Alaska Highway. Enjoy a relaxing evening at the Stonebridge Hotel.

Day 13JASPER NATIONAL PARK AND JASPER

Make your way to the Canadian Rockies and through Jasper National Park this morning. Look for mountain sheep and elk along the way! At the doorstep of nature, sleep well this evening at the Overlander Mountain Lodge, a jewel in the Canadian Rockies.

Day 14ICEFIELDS PARKWAY

Witness roaring Athabasca Falls before lunch overlooking Athabasca Glacier. Join an Ice Explorer coach ride and brief hike on Athabasca Glacier. Settle into your home for the next two evenings located in the middle of the Columbia Icefields, Lake Louise Resort.

Day 15BANFF NATIONAL PARK AND BANFF

Visit Peyto Lake, Lake Louise & Moraine Lake before arriving in Banff. Take a breathtakingly beautiful gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain. Once at the top, have lunch, explore the short hiking trails, and visit the cultural interpretive center. After a free afternoon in Banff, return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 16KAMLOOPS

Step back in time at the heritage ghost town of Three Valley Gap with a guided tour of the historic buildings before entering the Cascade Mountains. The scenery in Kamloops is stunning. Your hotel allows you multiple places to relax and enjoy the view.

Day 17SEATTLE

ARRANGING YOUR FLIGHTS

LAND: This tour begins in Anchorage, Alaska and ends in Seattle, Washington. On Day 1, flights should arrive in Anchorage by 6pm. Early check-in cannot be guaranteed before 4pm. On Day 18, flights may depart Seattle after 8am.
