By partnering with the best, John Hall’s Alaska has designed an exploration that provides the most comprehensive small vessel experience in Southeast Alaska. Guided by naturalists on daily shore activities, a John Hall’s Alaska expert tour representative also joins you.

Exclusive to John Hall’s Alaska guests, this unique experience cannot be found anywhere else. Pair this Southeast Alaska small vessel package with a John Hall’s Alaska land tour and your air from Anchorage is included.

Pair an Inside Passage experience with a land tour

If matching one of these Southeast Alaska experiences with a land tour we are happy to help you reserve extra hotel stays and exciting optional excursions to fill the time between your land tour and the start of your Inside Passage small ship sailing. For most land tours, the cruise will begin the following day and extra overnights/activities are not required.

Itinerary

Day 1JUNEAU

Welcome to Juneau – Alaska’s capital city. A John Hall’s Alaska representative greets you at the airport for your transfer to your accommodation for the evening. Rest well, you have an exciting week ahead! Enjoy dinner on your own this evening.

Overnight: Aspen Suites Hotel, Juneau

Day 2JUNEAU

Following a guest welcome breakfast, it’s time for guests to experience Juneau. Visit Mendenhall Glacier with time for the visitors center, a light hike and look for salmon. Next up enjoy Glacier Gardens before enjoying lunch and free time. This afternoon, arrive at the Admiralty Dream and experience the private dining experience of Orca Point Lodge.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK

Arrive early at one of America’s crown jewel national parks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve – Glacier Bay! Deep in the park view tidewater glaciers, icebergs, and waterfalls. Keep watch high and low, for bears, whales, moose, eagles, and mountain goats.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4HAINES

Experience one of Southeast Alaska’s hidden gems and most scenic communities, Haines. Spend the morning visiting the Tlingit heritage of Haines visiting the Jilkaat Kwaan Heritage Center and village of Klukwan. Enjoy time traveling through one of the greatest densities of bald eagles in the world before a free afternoon to explore the town of Haines at your leisure.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5EXPLORATION DAY

First charted in 1794, the waters of the Alexander Archipelago are frequent playgrounds of humpbacks and orcas, and the area’s many nooks and coves make it good for you too – perhaps a chance to kayak, hike, or ride in the skiff. Have your camera at the ready, eyes on the horizon, and see what the day brings!

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6TRACY ARM FJORD

At Tracy Arm – the heart of the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness and home to twin Sawyer Glaciers – cruise the length of this glacially-carved, jade-green fjord, tracing granite cliffs rising 4,000 feet above sea level. Surrounded by waterfalls, hop in the skiff for an up-close exploration of South Sawyer Glacier (conditions permitting). Keep watch for marine life, harbor seals, Arctic tern, and mountain goats.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7WRANGELL

Make your way to Wrangell, an area inhabited by the Tlingit people for thousands of years and the only town in Alaska to have been ruled by four nations – the Tlingit, Russia, England, and the United States. Explore the town’s colorful history at the Wrangell Museum. This afternoon, get set for adventure with a jet boat tour on the Stikine River, the fastest navigable free-flowing river in North America.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8EASTERN BARANOF ISLAND

Spend the morning cruising and whale watching before reaching the eastern shores of Baranof Island. Archaeological evidence has revealed people were living here 10,000 years ago although today, the wilderness rules. Join your naturalists on a guided shore walk, and possible skiff rides and kayaks for further exploration in one of the island’s pristine bays.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9SITKA

After breakfast, bid a final farewell to your crew before disembarking in Sitka. Visits to the Fortress of The Bear – an educational rescue center for orphaned bears, and the famous Alaska Raptor Center – a healing and rehabilitation center for injured avian patients, highlight the community’s unique relationship with nature. Guests with afternoon flights have access to the hospitality room in town until their scheduled departure home.
