Day 1ANCHORAGE

Welcome to the metropolitan city of Anchorage, Alaska! A John Hall’s Alaska representative greets you on arrival and escorts you to your luxury accommodations for the evening. Anchorage has much to offer if you wish to explore. Dinner is at your leisure.

Day 2GLENN HIGHWAY & VALDEZ

After breakfast, board a luxury motorcoach for a ride along the Glenn Highway National Scenic Byway. Following a path carved by ancient glaciers, keep your camera at hand – there is beauty everywhere you point it! Enjoy lunch en route before arriving in Valdez, the “Little Switzerland” of Alaska, your home for the next two evenings.

Day 3PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND

Talk about dramatic – join the Stan Stephens family and their fleet of vessels on an escorted adventure into striking Columbia Bay. Surrounded by towering blue ice, it’s a photographer’s dream, watch for sightings of whales, sea otters, harbor seals, eagles, and seabirds. Return to Valdez for dinner and time to explore the town on your own.

Day 4WRANGELL-ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK & FAIRBANKS

Breakfast gets you started, then off you go to explore America’s largest national park! Your spacious, luxury motorcoach is perfect for relaxing and taking in the views. Rushing waterfalls cradled between sheer black cliffs, a picture stop, and a dramatic ascent to the top of Thompson Pass take you to the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Visitor Center. Afterward, continue to Fairbanks. Sleep well tonight, the next few days are packed with culture, history, wilderness, and pups.

Day 5FAIRBANKS

Begin today aboard the Riverboat Discovery on a three-hour narrated tour on the Chena River. Learn about Alaska Natives’ ability to live off the land and cope with the extremes of Mother Nature at an authentic Athabascan village. Visit Trail Breaker Kennels – home of the late four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher – for an exclusive look at kennel life and a dog mushing demonstration. Then stop at Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum before a savory salmon bake and entertaining revue at the Palace Theatre & Saloon.

Day 6ALASKA RAILROAD & DENALI NATIONAL PARK

Board the glass-domed cars of the Alaska Railroad and experience luxury GoldStar service with breakfast served on board during the journey to Denali National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and time at the Denali Visitor Center. Over the next two evenings, relax at Denali Cabins.

Day 7DENALI NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE

The sun rises early in Alaska, and chances are high you will too! There is a lot to squeeze in today – a sightseeing bus ride 42 miles deep into the outback of Denali National Park, lunch, and time on your own. During the drive be on the lookout for moose, caribou, Dall sheep, wolves, grizzly bears, and of course Denali. After returning to the gates of the park, enjoy dinner at leisure this evening.

Day 8DENALI NATIONAL PARK & KNIK RIVER

From sunup to sundown, it is a day of eye-popping scenery! There is one last chance to enhance your time at Denali National Park with an optional adventure activity. After lunch, board that sweet motorcoach for a journey south to the Mat-Su Valley and settle into a private plush wilderness cabin for an evening at the Knik River Lodge.

Day 9KNIK RIVER & ANCHORAGE

Start with a warm meal in the lodge, then step outside for one last morning of exquisite wilderness. Surrounded by vast forests and mountains, take in the beauty from the deck of your cabin, take a short hike around the lodge, observe helicopters landing on the beach, or perhaps add an optional activity. Later, head back to the big city for a visit to the Anchorage Museum. Before settling in for the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with the group.

LAND: This tour begins and ends in Anchorage, Alaska. On Day 1, flights should arrive in Anchorage by 6pm; early check-in cannot be guaranteed before 4pm. On Day 10, flights may depart Anchorage after 8am.

PLATINUM INSIDE PASSAGE POST-CRUISE: If adding the Platinum Inside Passage Experience to a John Hall’s Alaska land tour, your flight from Anchorage to Sitka is included in your package price. On the last day, flights may depart Juneau after 8am.

ADMIRALTY DREAM POST-CRUISE: If adding Admiralty Dream to a John Hall’s Alaska land tour, your flight from Anchorage to Sitka is included in your package price. Flights may depart Juneau after 12pm on the last day.
