Itinerary

Day 1Fairbanks

Welcome to Fairbanks – the golden heart of Alaska! Upon arrival, guests will be greeted at the airport by a John Hall’s Alaska representative and transferred to Sophie Station Suites. The remainder of the day is open for exploring. Enjoy an optional aurora viewing opportunity tonight away from the city lights and experience the breathtaking view of the evening sky.

Day 2DOG SLEDDING, CURLING & AURORA VIEWING

Following a Welcome Breakfast with the group, visit Trail Breaker Kennel – home of the late four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher. This experience includes dog sled rides with a behind-the-scenes look at the kennel and the Monson family homestead. After lunch and time with the pups, experience one of Alaskan’s favorite sports – curling! At the Fairbanks Curling Club, join in the fun with a private lesson. Travel to Borealis Basecamp, a unique stay in private igloo style domes while sleeping under the Northern Lights for two nights. This evening, half the group joins a professional aurora photographer for an exclusive photography presentation with tips on how to properly set up cameras to capture the northern lights.

Day 3BOREALIS BASECAMP PICK YOUR ADVENTURE DAY

After a late night of aurora viewing from guests’ private igloos, sleep in and enjoy breakfast at leisure. Today includes Alaska style adventure with dog sledding and snow-machining! An optional helicopter tour, snow coach at sunset and time in the sauna are also available to enhance the experience. This evening, the remainder of guests enjoy the photography lesson. Practice your new camera skills while watching the aurora dance in the sky from the comfort of a climate-controlled modern geodesic igloo custom built for Borealis Basecamp.

Day 4TALKEETNA & NORTHERN LIGHTS

After breakfast, travel by coach to Talkeetna via the Parks Highway. Keep an eye out for moose on the hillsides along the way! Make a lunch stop enroute before arriving in Talkeetna for a relaxing evening. The Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge – guests home for two evenings – keeps the fire roaring into the early morning hours for those who opt to view the Northern Lights and Mount Denali from the lodge’s expansive back porch.

Day 5DENALI FLIGHTSEEING & TALKEETNA

The day begins with a group brunch before a 1.5-hour flightseeing tour that not only highlights Denali National Park and Mount Denali, but includes a fly-by of Hunter, Foraker, Silverthorne, and Moose’s Tooth Peaks before landing (weather pending) in the Great Gorge. This afternoon stroll around downtown Talkeetna, before a tasty dinner at a local favorite Alaska establishment. Relax this evening or choose to spend the evening hours outdoors watching aurora borealis.

Day 6ANCHORAGE & BREWERY TOUR

Wake up in Talkeetna to spectacular views of Mount Denali before continuing south to Anchorage – the city of lights and home of the Ceremonial Start for The Iditarod race and Fur Rondy Festival. In downtown Anchorage, enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the Glacier Brewhouse brewery with lunch followed by a visit to the colorful Anchorage Museum. Arrive at the luxurious Hotel Captain Cook for the last two nights. Savor a delicious dinner with a view this evening while reminiscing with travel companions about the week’s adventures!

Day 7PICK YOUR ADVENTURE DAY

Today is about Alaska style adventure. Enjoy breakfast before heading out on an included adventure and activity – a day at world renowned Alyeska Resort for the skiing, snowboard or new Nordic Spa, the Kenai Peninsula and wildlife cruise, or flightseeing over the Chugach Mountains and Knik Glacier. Lunch and dinner will vary today depending on activities.

Day 8ANCHORAGE - FLY HOME

Following breakfast, transfer to the Anchorage International Airport for a homebound flight and bid farewell to the incredible journey and experience of Alaska’s Winter Wonders.

Group Discount – John Hall’s Alaska is proud to offer a “Friends and Family” discount for multiple rooms traveling together. This discount may be retroactively applied, meaning you may book and if a friend or family member books after, discounts will be applied to all reservations in the party. These discounts can be combined with early booking discounts and final payment by check discounts. Discounts are as follows:

  • 2-3 Rooms – $50 per person
  • 4-7 Rooms – $100 per person
  • 8-11 Rooms – $150 per person

Arranging Your Flights

This tour begins in Fairbanks, Alaska, and ends in Anchorage, Alaska. Flights must arrive before 6pm on Day 1; early check-in cannot be guaranteed before 4pm. On Day 8, flights may depart Anchorage after 8am.
